Frequently asked questions

Plain-language notes on using the parcel planning tools.

How is volumetric weight calculated?

The tool divides parcel volume by the divisor you enter. For metric input it uses cm³ and returns kg; for inch input it uses in³ and returns lb, converting the display if you choose the other weight unit. Carrier rules may use different divisors and rounding.

Why does my carrier show a different billable weight?

Carriers can apply their own divisor, measurement method, rounding increments, minimums, packaging rules, route conditions, and service-specific terms. Use this tool for a quick estimate and the carrier's current quote for the shipment price.

Is the carton fit estimate exact?

No. It checks a grid of identical rectangular items in six orientations. It does not test mixed shapes, nesting, cushioning, product fragility, void fill, or safe stack limits. Try a physical test pack.

What does profit margin mean here?

Profit margin is estimated profit divided by selling price. This calculator subtracts only the inputs shown. Add other applicable expenses, and check your sales channel's fee basis because some fees may not be a simple percentage of item price.

Are my numbers sent to a server?

No. The calculator runs locally in your browser and its script does not send the entered figures to this site. The web host may process technical request information when serving pages. Read the privacy policy for current details.

Can I use this for a customs declaration or shipping label?

No. Use the carrier, broker, or government service's required forms and current instructions for official shipping documents and declarations.
